Born in 92 in Izmir, Seray AK started her photography journey at the age of 17 by taking basic training at IFOD, AK, who was the youngest member at that time, took part in many exhibitions and presentations with her photographs and achieved successful results in national-international competitions and deserved the EFIAP title. In addition to having an excellent technique, she has received the title of Efiap (excellence), which is given to photographers who have received acceptance / award in many FIAP Patronage international competitions with many of their works.
In addition to his photography journey, she wanted to improve herself in the field of sports after quitting basketball, which she played professionally, and graduated from Ege University Physical Education and Sports Teaching undergraduate program, followed by a Master's program in Sports Psychology and received her expertise. At the same time, she worked as a Class C basketball referee in the Turkish Basketball Federation for many years. She is currently continuing her education in the PhD program in Sports Psychology with a Tubitak success scholarship. AK, who strives to improve herself in order to learn and teach, has added Anadolu University Associate Degree Photography Department and Public Relations and Advertising Department to her educational knowledge.
She continues photography education to young and adult individuals in different institutions and organizations with her experiences from many fields. In addition, she is trying to contribute more to the association with her work as a member of İFOD Board of Directors and as a photography instructor.
My Photography Thought
Considering that photography is a means of self-expression, I have seen that I have been taking photographs in many different styles for 13 years. First of all, documentary photography including people and space photographs with the structure of the association, then some of the problems I experienced in my life before the pandemic caused me to move away from people, so I turned to abstract and experimental photography, I tried to discover myself in a completely different field with great pleasure.
After the pandemic, with the intense emotions we experienced, I felt how lonely and alone with oneself people actually are. Afterwards, my way of expression changed again and since then I have been shooting shadows, graphics, people, in general, I turn to whatever my soul desires.
Talking about my photographs;
From my point of view, the photographs show how lonely we live in cities dominated by chaos and crowds. The geometric shapes in the city, that is, the windows that we call frames when describing the composition, but in my opinion look at life, determine the modern and cold atmosphere of the photograph, the silhouette of the human figure with the use of reverse light strengthens the feeling of loneliness and alienation, with a minimalist approach and abstraction, it makes us feel how little space we actually occupy in this city.
I wanted to use my windows to make the viewer feel the loneliness and create an emotional connection with the photographer, the anonymous figure in the photograph and the city.

92 yılında İzmir’de doğan Seray AK, 17 yaşında İFOD’ da temel eğitim alarak fotoğraf yolculuğuna başladı, o dönemde en genç üye ünvanını alarak yoluna devam eden AK, birçok sergi ve sunumda fotoğraflarıyla yer aldı ve ulusal-uluslararası yarışmalarda başarılı sonuçlar elde ederek, mükemmel bir tekniğinin olmasının yanı sıra pek çok eseri ile FIAP Patronajlı birçok uluslararası yarışmada kabul (kabul/ödül) almış olan fotoğraf sanatçılarına verilen Efiap ( mükemmellik) unvanını hakketti.
Fotoğraf yolculuğunun yanında, profesyonel olarak oynadığı basketbolu bıraktıktan sonra spor alanında kendini geliştirmek istedi ve Ege Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği lisans programını bitirdi, devamında Spor Psikolojisi alanında Yüksek Lisans programını bitirerek uzmanlığını aldı. Aynı zamanda, uzun yıllar Türkiye Basketbol Federasyonu’nda da C Klasman basketbol hakemi olarak görev aldı. Halen Spor Psikolojisi Doktora programında Tübitak başarı bursuyla öğrenimini devam ettirmektedir. Öğrenmek ve öğretmek için kendini geliştirme çabaları içinde olan AK, Anadolu üniversitesi ön lisans Fotoğraf bölümü ile Halkla İlişkiler ve Reklamcılık bölümünü de eğitim bilgileri arasına eklemiştir.
Birçok alandan aldığı tecrübeler ile farklı kurum ve kuruluşta genç ve yetişkin bireylere fotoğraf eğitimini devam ettirmektedir. Bununla birlikte, İFOD Yönetim Kurulu üyesi ve fotoğraf eğitmeni olarak çalışmalarıyla derneğine daha fazla katkı sağlamaya çalışmaktadır.

Fotoğraf Düşüncem...
Fotoğrafın kendini ifade etme aracı olduğunu düşünürsek, ben 13 yıl boyunca birçok farklı tarzda fotoğraf çektiğimi gördüm. Öncelikle derneğin yapısıyla birlikte insan ve mekan fotoğraflarını içeren belgesel fotoğraf, daha sonra pandemi öncesi hayatımda yaşadığım bazı sorunlar insanlardan uzaklaşmama neden olmuş bu sayede soyut ve deneysel fotoğrafa yönelmiştim, çok keyifle bambaşka bir alanın içinde kendimi keşfetmeye çalıştım.
Pandemi sonrasında ise yaşadığımız yoğun duygular ile birlikte insanların aslında ne kadar yalnız ve kendiyle başbaşa olduğunu hissettim. Sonrasında ifade biçimim yine değişti ve o zamandan beri de gölge, grafik, insan çekiyorum, yani genel olarak ruhum ne isterse oraya yöneliyorum.
Genel olarak fotoğraflarım hakkında konuşmak gerekirse;
Fotoğraflar, benim gözümden karmaşa ve kalabalığa hakim şehirde ne kadar yalnız yaşadığımızı gösteriyor. Şehrin içinde bulunan geometrik şekiller, yani kompozisyonu anlatırken çerçeve diye adlandırdığımız fakat benim düşüncemde hayata bakan pencereler fotoğrafın modern ve soğuk atmosferini belirliyor, ters ışık kullanımıyla insan figürünün silüet olarak belirginleşmesi yalnızlık ve yabancılaşma duygusunu güçlendirirken, minimalist bir yaklaşım ve soyutlama ile aslında bu şehirde ne kadar az yer kapladığımızı hissettiriyor.
Ben fotoğrafı izleyen kişinin; yalnızlığı hissetmesi için benim pencerelerimi kullanarak fotoğrafçı, fotoğraftaki kimliksiz figür ve şehir ile duygusal bir bağ kurmasını sağlamak istiyorum.
